3 days exploring the north of Portugal, enjoying a lush scenery and experiencing a different culture

    1st day - Porto is the 2^nd biggest city and is proud to be different than Lisbon. Discover why walking through these cute narrow streets, carved out of baroque granite. Sip some Port wine in the old wine cellars, buy a book from the famous Lello bookshop, or simply relax in a river cruise and see everything from Douro river.

    We will drive from Lisbon in the morning and explore Porto in the afternoon. You’ll be explained everything about the city so that you may go for dinner and a drink in the famous Ribeira, the lively riverside neighborhood. Its unique architecture and culture are recognized by Unesco.

    2nd day – Driving through the interior has its surprises. Roads blocked by hers, chimneys always smoking or a beautiful waterfall just off the interstate. Start the day buying local crafts from the farmers market of Barcelos. You’ll find the best cheeses, tastiest smoked meats and beautiful pottery among live chicken and old-fashioned farming tools.

    Take a deep breath from all this in Bom Jesus de Braga, a monastery that will please even the atheists. Its setting on top of a hill offers incredible views of the region. Walk down hald of the stair-way and your guide will be waiting for you – with the car – half way through, ready to leave towards Guimarães.

    No description of Guimaraes will be enough to prepare you for its feel. Small houses carved in granite boast colorful wrought iron balconies. A tranquil, charming feel can be enjoyed while having a drink in the main square. If you’re up to some adventure, climb the medieval castle, where allegedly the first king of Portugal was born.

    3^rd day – Did you know that Port wine can only be produced in a small region of Portugal? During this day you’ll learn everything about Port wine and will obviously try some too. Port is produced in the valley of Douro river, which hills have been cut into slopes by different generations. At the distance it looks like someone passed with a comb though these hills. Spend the day touring different wineries, trying different wines and understanding what makes port so unique.

    At the end of the day we’ll drive back to Lisbon or Porto, according to your preference.
